The New Year Just Started, and My Backlogged Days

2020 began without any preparation, just as it pleased, and somehow, it’s already mid-April. It’s been almost two months since COVID-19 spread and I couldn’t go to orchestra practice.. ㅠㅠ My May performance was also eventually postponed to the fall..

It’s nice to give a meaningful painting as a gift to someone. After all, paintings are beautiful when viewed from a distaaance ㅋ.ㅋ Everyone found it amusing that the Assistant Manager liked cliff paintings.
My second daily routine stolen by COVID-19 is pastel class. It’s been suspended for over two months ㅠㅠ I really want to draw soon…
I got a call from my former Manager, who left the company a long time ago. The Manager, who is like a rabbit, has a cute daughter who is also like a rabbit. The little rabbit girl loves the painting I gave as a farewell gift ㅎ.ㅎ I received a happy KakaoTalk message saying the little rabbit girl copied it. Hehe. Looking at it again, it’s just too cute and makes me happy!

Spain Club is delicious, but the prices are a bit evil for the taste. Still, I think their paella is the best. I always scrape the pot clean, down to the very bottom.
The day Nini came to visit Mom’s cafe, we stood in line at a famous local bakery and bought some bread. I’m not usually a bread fanatic, but the bread here is truly amazing… I keep thinking about the Mammoth Bread…

I really wanted to go for omakase. After searching around my office, I finally went to the Sushi Sanwon Cheong dinner omakase that I’d been meaning to try!!! It felt like being generously treated with fresh and vibrant ingredients. This must be why people go for omakase… I’ll work hard and go again~

The day I came to make a cutting board, something I’d really wanted to try, I chose camphor wood, which smells like minty phytoncides. And then, after cutting and sanding it, my cutting board was complete!

And the first use of this cutting board was for plating jamón and salami hearts, along with dried persimmons stuffed with cream cheese and walnuts made by Mom, to enjoy with wine, hehe.

Among the days of always cooking at home while working remotely, the day I made pasta. My own recipe: spinach vongole pasta.

Since I’m always at home with remote work, I don’t wear makeup. I had to take a photo for my driver’s license renewal, so I put on makeup for the first time in a while. It felt like a waste to put on makeup for a photo that takes less than 10 minutes, so I took a selfie.

If ID photos came out like selfie app photos, how much easier would life be..
Mom said I looked like someone from North Korea, like from Moranbong Club or something ㅡ.ㅡ chet!

There’s a place near Konkuk University Station that doesn’t feel like Konkuk University. A quiet and peaceful restaurant, Dawon Sikdang. Delicious meal, delicious wine~.~

Fresh sunflowers, truly beautiful.

There are nights like that. Nights when I desperately crave sundae. I love the dry liver. And sundae, too. Actually, all the other offal parts too…

My aunt sent me octopus. Such precious octopus, which is really hard to find and expensive these days!!! A huge octopus; Mom chopped it up and stored it in the freezer. In winter, you absolutely must eat gwamegi and octopus. Life is richer when you eat seasonal food.

I was already really into Monet recently, so I went to the “Monet to Cézanne” exhibition. Viewing the artworks with masks on, there were quite a lot of people.

On the first floor, there was an exhibition with a name that was hard to pronounce, but I just pretended to view it and took a picture because the colors were pretty.

My senior colleague got promoted. To continue our tradition of “promotion gift first, then promotion treat,” I headed out because he said he’d buy dinner at a dim sum place.
We were supposed to meet at Olympic Park, and I took this photo because I was so surprised while climbing the stairs. I thought it was some kind of wallpaper, but it was the sky. The photo doesn’t quite capture the feeling.

Mongjungheon Bangi Branch, a dim sum hotspot. I had proper dim sum for the first time in a long while. And at a table with a super popular Olympic Park view, no less.

To help with digestion, we decided to walk around Seokchon Lake. It was my first time seeing Lotte Tower from outside at night, and it’s truly dazzling.

UNO!!! I shouted “UNO!!!” for the first time in a million years since I was a kid!!! A fun night with people who are comfortable, funny, and even cool.

The birthdays of my high school friends, “the girls,” are clustered in February and March. It got a little twisted because of me, the “family tree breaker” (birth order breaker) ㅋㅋㅋ Two of them turn thirty this year, and two will turn thirty next year. We are caught between 2 and 3.
Among them, for Yoona, who was the first to turn thirty, we prepared a proper birthday party for the first time. We got balloons and a custom cake. The vibe at Schedule Cheongdam was a bit intense, but it was funㅎㅎㅎ Unlike us… we really took a ton of photos that day…> <

Seokho’s twenty-ninth birthday was celebrated at Pound Local. Very, very late due to COVID-19. The atmosphere here is incredibly hip (the music, please…) but the food was just so-so.

Yoona gave us custom-made soju glasses as a surprise gift. She also gave us a magical solution to our worries.ㅋㅋㅋ

They were all picked and made to suit each person perfectly.ㅋㅋㅋㅋ “Cham Inju”… even Mom admitted it suited me…

Yeonok, who also turned thirty, and Gnocchi Bar… And we probably won’t be able to go back there again… as usual… We just can’t seem to make any regular restaurants/cafes/bars ㅋㅋㅋㅋ Sorry for causing a ruckus.. bows

A proposal to try doing something fun together, outside of our main jobs, I immediately jumped at it.
There are still countless things to overcome, but I decided to take courage and time to try it. We had our first start at a stylish cafe in Pangyo below.

On a nice day, we grilled samgyeopsal for lunch on the terrace. We wrapped it in ssam with fragrant minari.

Dad is turning sixty this year. He grumbled, saying things like, “Why bother with this?”, “It’s fine,” “Don’t worry about it,” but on the actual day, he quite liked it. An evening where the five of us gathered, laughed, and talked for the first time in a while.

I was starting to get tired of my long, flowing hair, so I cut some length and got some kind of perm, was it a build perm?.. On the day I got my hair done, the director styled it beautifully, but after washing my hair, this style just doesn’t come out…

Since I’m working remotely, I spend a lot of time sitting at my desk in my room. For a change of pace, I changed the picture on my desk wall. Henri Matisse’s painting made it feel spring-like.

Social distancing, after work, I bought a Myungrang Hotdog from the neighborhood to spend my own “stay-at-home Friday night.” Sugar and ketchup on a hotdog is the truth. The truth.

Lately, I’ve fallen deep into Friends. It’s so funny and so entertaining. 90s sitcoms are totally my style. Instead of headache-inducing, provocative dramas, these kinds of sitcoms, full of extremely light and silly stories, are the best!

Making an oboe reed, one of my goals for this year, I finally had my first lesson. The reed is about three-quarters done, and as expected, it’s not easy… But this year, I will definitely!! play with a reed that I made and carved myself, from start to finish!

I went to Obok Sushi. Uni and all sorts of seafood, I love you all.

I stumbled upon a bakery called Our Bakery. It turned out to be a famous place. The cinnamon rolls tasted like a blast from the pastㅠㅠ I really enjoyed them!

Day by day, I should live days where I might regret, but never hate.
